Scholarships and Fellowships Requiring a Faculty Adviser or Korean Host

These programmes require more than a general recommendation letter: an academic adviser, faculty supervisor, Korean affiliate scholar or host institution must support the application or research plan. The adviser or host role differs by programme, and contacting a professor does not guarantee admission or funding.

Common questions

Do I need to contact a professor before applying?

For the programmes collected here, the reviewed rule requires an adviser or host role. Follow the programme’s timing and document instructions; informal contact alone is not approval.

Is an adviser recommendation the same as a recommendation letter?

Not always. These records tie support to an academic adviser, faculty supervisor or Korean host, while a general referee can be outside the host institution.
